ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – PLN Indonesia Power signed a Joint Development Study Agreement (JDSA) with China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd (CEEC) to develop a comprehensive green energy project in Sulawesi.
PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said that the company continues to collaborate with national and global partners to accelerate the massive use of new renewable energy.
“The signing of this collaboration is an important moment considering that in the near future the Government and PLN will release a new National Electricity Business Plan. “Later, the construction of new, large-scale renewable energy plants will be regulated,” said Darmawan in a press release, Monday, March 25 2024.
Apart from that, Darmawan explained, the National Electricity Business Plan also regulates transmission lines connecting islands in Indonesia.
Darmawan further revealed that in the design of the latest National Electricity Business Plan it was determined that Indonesia’s new renewable energy ecosystem would be supported by hydro and geothermal-based plants of 32 Gigawatt (GW) as well as solar and wind-based plants of 28 GW.
The development of a green transmission line will play a crucial role in distributing green electricity between islands.
“There is a mismatch between the location of hydro and geothermal sources and the load center. “For this, we need to connect Sumatra to Java, Kalimantan to Java, East Nusa Tenggara to Java, Kalimantan to Sulawesi, in which there will be a large project to design and develop a green transmission line,” continued Darmawan.
Board Chairman of CEEC Group, Song Hailiang, said that his party is ready to support the Indonesian Government in achieving NZE in 2060 or sooner.
In this case, CEEC is optimistic because it has a long history of cooperation in developing new renewable energy with PLN.
“Indonesia is an important partner for China in jointly building and contributing to the 2060 NZE target in Indonesia,” said Song. (AT Network)
