ASIATODAY.ID, ANKARA – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto made diplomatic history by delivering his first official state address abroad before the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye. Speaking in the iconic Plenary Chamber in Ankara, April 10, 2025, he was warmly received by the Speaker and members of the Turkish Parliament.
“It is a great honor for me to stand here today, in this historic chamber—the heart of Turkish democracy. I bring warm greetings from 280 million Indonesians, your brothers and sisters from the world’s largest Muslim-majority country,” President Prabowo opened.
President Prabowo emphasized that his visit to Türkiye carried not only diplomatic significance but also a deep personal and historical meaning. He stressed that the bond between Indonesia and Türkiye runs deep—rooted in shared heritage and long-standing solidarity between Muslim nations.

He recounted how the Ottoman Empire once extended support to Indonesian sultanates and freedom fighters resisting Western colonial powers. This historical alliance, he noted, is still remembered with pride among Indonesians.
“When I visited Sumatra, Aceh, and Deli Serdang, the people still spoke of how their ancestors were trained and supported by Ottoman officers. These stories live on—they are not forgotten,” he said, emotionally.
In one of the most powerful moments of his address, President Prabowo expressed Indonesia’s admiration for Türkiye’s unwavering stance in defending the Palestinian people amid ongoing humanitarian crises.
“Many nations speak of democracy and human rights, yet remain silent when innocent children and mothers in Gaza are bombed. They pretend not to see the violations. But Türkiye stands firm—and for that, Indonesia stands with Türkiye,” he declared, drawing applause from the assembly.
President Prabowo praised Türkiye’s moral leadership, saying it sets an example for the global Muslim community to follow.
President Prabowo concluded his speech with a strong call for closer strategic cooperation between Indonesia and Türkiye. He expressed confidence that through unity and collaboration, both nations can contribute to building a more just, peaceful, and equitable world.
“Our civilizations must fight for a future where all nations can live with dignity—safe, free, and without oppression,” he affirmed. (AT Network)
