ASIATODAY.ID, SAO PAULO – Indonesian Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani held a strategic meeting with a number of leaders of world institutions, on the sidelines of the Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) agenda in São Paulo – Brazil.
In the first meeting, Sri Mulyani met with the President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), Jin Liqun, on Wednesday, February 28 2024 local time.
On this occasion, the two of them discussed AIIB’s role in facilitating development in the Asian region, including Indonesia.
“Even though it was only for a short time, we were able to discuss several important discussion topics, such as the role of the AIIB in helping to create development for countries in the Asian region. Including, Indonesia itself which is currently promoting the Energy Transition Mechanism as a national priority agenda to overcome climate change,” said Sri Mulyani, quoted from a written statement.
Sri Mulyani continued, the role of Multilateral Development Banks (MDB) such as AIIB is very necessary.
“Not only for Indonesia, but also in realizing a just and affordable energy transition mechanism for all countries in the world,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, in a meeting with the President of the World Bank, Ajay Banga, the two of them discussed several topics related to cooperation between Indonesia and the World Bank.
“We met and exchanged ideas for a moment in the middle of our respective G20 agendas. We also discussed several topics related to cooperation between Indonesia and the World Bank,” wrote Sri Mulyani.
The two of them discussed various matters regarding the energy transition throughout the world, starting from carbon credits, Energy Transition Mechanism (ETM) cooperation, Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP), to the Climate Investment Fund – Renewable Energy Integration (CIF-REI).
“We also discussed issues related to the G20, one of which is the G20 Joint Finance and Health Task Force (JFHTF), where in 2024, Indonesia will still be Co-chair together with Italy. Apart from that, we also discussed the Climate and Finance agenda Sustainable and the world Financial Architecture Forum,” he added
