ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian government together with industry players and academics are united in presenting a breakthrough to achieve the net zero emission target by maximizing renewable energy.

In the automotive sector, the Motor Vehicle industry shows an increase in sales figures for xEV type vehicles (Hybrid, PHEV and BEV) in 2024, namely by 60% from the previous year, proving the growth in public interest and awareness of environmentally friendly vehicles.

“A decarbonization strategy through technological innovation and green industrial concepts is an absolute must at this time. “Not only green industry, but we can also implement the potential to carry out carbon neutrality and net zero carbon now,” said the Director General of the Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Electronics Industry, Indonesian Ministry of Industry, Setia Diarta at the “Beyond Zero: Carbon Neutrality (CN) Mobility Event” in Jakarta, Wednesday, February 12 2025.

One of the automotive companies that has launched a carbon neutralization program is Toyota Indonesia. Through the event entitled “Beyond Zero: Carbon Neutrality (CN) Mobility Event”, Toyota demonstrated efforts to transition the Indonesian automotive industry towards carbon neutrality, which it hopes can help reduce the negative impact of carbon on the industrial environment and society in Indonesia.

The Indonesian government appreciates Toyota’s steps in supporting emissions reduction efforts through holding this event. This event is proof that Toyota is not only focused on the business aspect, but also has a strong commitment to building a sustainable and globally competitive industrial ecosystem.

“We hope that Toyota will be able to introduce new technologies in production, of course the technology we hope for is to produce low emissions. “We also hope that Toyota Indonesia will continue to innovate in the future, not only on carbon neutrality,” said Setia.

Chief Executive Officer of Toyota for Asia Region, Masahiko Maeda said, Toyota will continue to strive to support the growth of Indonesia by playing an active role, especially in the automotive industry and developing its supply chain through investment, opening jobs, providing a positive trade balance, as well as increasing the local content ratio (LCR) for more than 50 years.

“However, economic progress must go hand in hand with environmental responsibility. “That’s why with triple-helix collaboration with policy stakeholders such as government, industry and academia, we are proud to introduce an event that illustrates a multi-pathway technology strategy, in harmony with various energy resources and infrastructure,” he said.

In this event, Maeda also invited various policy makers to collaborate, exchange experiences, and contribute to building an ecosystem that supports Indonesia’s efforts to decarbonize.

“Beyond Zero: Carbon Neutrality (CN) Mobility Event” will take place for four days on 12 -15 February 2025 at Gambir Expo, Central Jakarta. Visitors can try driving a variety of environmentally friendly vehicles directly, which implement a multiple-pathway concept, including low-emission and high-tech vehicles that use environmentally friendly fuel.

“From biofuel and flexy-fuel technology, to hybrid electric vehicles, battery electric vehicles, and hydrogen fuel cell technology, the Beyond Zero concept shows Toyota’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of innovation, while encouraging a pragmatic and holistic approach towards a green and low-carbon ecosystem for all Indonesian citizens,” said Maeda.
