World Peace Forum 2025: Global Leaders Call for ‘One Humanity, One Destiny, One Responsibility’

The 9th World Peace Forum (WPF) 2025 officially opened on November 10, 2025 in the Nusantara V Building at the Indonesian Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta. Special

ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA — The spirit of peace echoed across the halls of the Nusantara V Building at the Indonesian Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, as the 9th World Peace Forum (WPF) 2025 officially opened on November 10, 2025.

The forum brought together world leaders, religious figures, scholars, and civil society representatives who collectively called for global unity under the theme “One Humanity, One Destiny, One Responsibility.”

The event was inaugurated by Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono, accompanied by Hidayat Nur Wahid, Adies Kadir, and Tamsil Linrung. Distinguished guests included former Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Chairman of the Center for Dialogue and Cooperation Among Civilizations (CDCC) Prof. Din Syamsuddin, and President of Timor-Leste José Ramos-Horta.

Jusuf Kalla: “Peace Is the Essence of Human Life”

In his address, Jusuf Kalla emphasized that peace is the essence of human existence and a shared aspiration for all nations.

“Everyone longs for a peaceful life. No one wants to be a victim of war. In our daily lives, we greet each other with ‘assalamualaikum’ — which means peace. It shows that peace is at the core of our existence,” Kalla said.

He added that Indonesia’s hosting of the World Peace Forum reflects the nation’s long-standing role as a bridge for global peace and dialogue.

“Indonesia has always been proactive. Even our President consistently advocates peace at international platforms, including the United Nations,” Kalla noted.

As Chairman of the Indonesian Mosque Council, Jusuf Kalla believes that spiritual values can serve as a moral compass for creating a more peaceful and civilized global order.

Din Syamsuddin: A Global Moral Movement for Peace

Meanwhile, Prof. Din Syamsuddin, Chairman of the Centre for Dialogue and Cooperation Among Civilizations (CDCC), described the World Peace Forum as a global moral movement that unites peacemakers from across religions, nations, and professions.

“Since its inception in 2006, the forum has been a platform for moral leaders — not governments — to promote the ideas and principles of peace,” Din said.

The 9th edition of the forum carries the theme “Considering Wasatiyyat Islam and Tionghua for Global Collaboration”, exploring the synergy between Wasatiyyat Islam (moderate Islam) and the Confucian concept of Zhong Yong (the Doctrine of the Mean), both emphasizing moderation, balance, and cooperation.

“Islam teaches Wasathiyyah — the middle path — and Confucian philosophy teaches Zhong Yong, moderation. These two traditions show that collaboration and balance are the foundations of peace and prosperity,” Din explained.

He stressed that such values are crucial for addressing extremism, intolerance, and humanitarian crises worldwide.

Parliament Leaders Reaffirm Indonesia’s Commitment to Global Peace

In his remarks, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Adies Kadir underlined the forum’s strategic importance in strengthening inter-civilizational dialogue.

“Dialogue is the key to resolving differences peacefully and building mutual understanding. We must not allow religion to be misused as a justification for violence,” he said.

Adies affirmed that the Indonesian Parliament fully supports global peace initiatives through parliamentary diplomacy, ensuring that the principles of tolerance and coexistence continue to guide global policymaking.

“This forum reinforces our collective awareness that peace is a shared responsibility of all humanity,” he added.

Global Leaders Join Hands in Jakarta

Beyond Indonesian leaders, the World Peace Forum 2025 welcomed President José Ramos-Horta of Timor-Leste, former President of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga, and representatives from Al-Azhar University, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and Religions for Peace Asia.

Held from November 9–11, 2025, the forum served as a platform for promoting global cooperation, social justice, and cultural understanding amid escalating conflicts and humanitarian challenges.

“One Humanity, One Destiny, One Responsibility” became the rallying call from Jakarta to the world — a reminder that peace will only prevail when humanity becomes the center of every policy and action.

Indonesia: The Bridge of Civilizations

The presence of global leaders and moral figures in Jakarta underscores Indonesia’s pivotal role as a bridge of civilizations — a nation built on diversity, tolerance, and the philosophy of Pancasila.

Through the World Peace Forum 2025, Indonesia reaffirmed its position at the forefront of global diplomacy for peace, moderation, and interfaith harmony.

“Indonesia possesses the spiritual and social capital to be a hub of global dialogue. Our Pancasila values, Wasatiyyat Islam, and local wisdom are the true foundations of peace,” concluded Din Syamsuddin. (AT Network)
