ASIATODAY.ID, SURABAYA – Kana Cooperative is expanding its collaboration with Red-and-White Village/Subdistrict Cooperatives (Koperasi Desa/Kelurahan Merah Putih or KDKMP) across East Java and Sumatra.
So far, 325 KDKMP cooperatives have joined the partnership network.
The collaboration goes beyond a standard business partnership. Kana Cooperative also provides operational support of IDR 2 million per month for each village cooperative involved in the program.
In addition, Kana Cooperative offers access to basic goods procurement through a consignment scheme with no down payment (DP). Under this scheme, each KDKMP cooperative can conduct transactions of up to IDR 200 million per month.
Kana Cooperative Chairman Jonathan Danang Wardhana said the partnership model was designed to give village cooperatives stronger footing in developing their businesses.
“We designed this collaboration to ensure village cooperatives have a stronger business foundation. They are not only connected as partners but also receive operational support and access to the goods they need to operate effectively on the ground,” Jonathan said.
According to him, village cooperatives currently need partnership models that do not impose heavy financial burdens at the initial stage, while still allowing room for growth.
For that reason, the consignment system without a down payment is considered a relevant approach. Through this mechanism, village cooperatives can maintain the supply of essential goods without being constrained by large upfront capital requirements.
Jonathan added that the current achievement of 325 partner cooperatives provides a strong foundation for further expansion. Kana Cooperative is targeting 700 KDKMP partners by 2026.
“We set this target because the demand in the field is significant. The more village cooperatives connected through partnerships like this, the greater the opportunity for them to grow sustainably and deliver tangible economic benefits to their communities,” he explained.
Kana Cooperative hopes the collaboration will continue to expand. With operational support and more flexible access to essential goods procurement, village cooperatives are expected to become more active in running their businesses and providing direct economic benefits to local communities.
